KOLKATA: India's software and services export to Latin American countries is likely to double to $1.13 billion in the next two years, Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) said here Thursday.
"We have a lot of opportunities coming up in the Latin American countries. India has the potential to double its export to these countries over the next two years," ESC executive director D.K. Sareen told reporters here.
The country's total export of computer software and services to Latin America stood at $563 million in 2011-12.
India's software and ITeS companies were looking forward to a substantial spending on information technology (IT) for developing infrastructure for the upcoming football World Cup and Olympics in Brazil, Sareen said.
He was talking to the reporters on the sidelines of IndiaSoft 2013, an international IT exhibition and conference, being organised by the ESC, an autonomous organisation under the ministry of commerce.
According to Sareen, the country's overall software export was likely to register a 10 percent growth in in 2012-13.
Value of India's total software export was $68 billion during 2011-12.
Meanwhile, in the 13th edition of the IndiaSoft, around 200 delegates from abroad attended the event and over 150 IT entrepreneurs from India displayed their products, solutions and capabilities.
