PM Modi calls Tanzania the 'closest development partner' of India in Africa

Tanzania is India's largest and closest African partner, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who made this statement during his speech at the Exchange event, highlighting Tanzania and India as essential trading and investment partners. Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated, Both sides are working on an agreement to increase trade in local currencies. Tanzania is India's largest and closest ally in all of Africa. At Hyderabad House in Delhi, PM Modi and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan attended the Memorandum of Understanding exchange programme. A number of memorandums of understanding were issued between the two nations, including one that included the technical collaboration between the Tanzania Shipping Agency and the Indian Navy in sharing information about white shipping. While speaking about the defence sector, PM Modi noted that India and Tanzania have agreed on a five-year roadmap. There will be additional dimensions added to fields which includes capacity building, marine cooperation, military training, and the defence industry. PM Modi launched the Global Biofuels Alliance during the G20Summit in the presence of US President Joe Biden, President of Brazil Luiz Inacio, President of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez and Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni. PM Modi headed on to clarify that the establishment of the IIT Madras centre in Zanzibar marks a significant turning point in our partnership. On July 4, the Ministry of Education (MOE), the central government, and others signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of an IIT Madras campus in Zanzibar. IIT Madras and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MoEVT) Zanzibar-Tanzania, in the presence of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Zanzibar President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi.
