Promotion of India-South Africa Relations in the MSME Sector: Chairman's Meeting Held in Delhi with Representatives from Namibia and Lesotho

The High Commissioners of Namibia, Lesotho, and other SADC nations recently held a productive discussion in Delhi, India, with Mr. Amar Singh Thakur, Honorary Chairman of the India SADC Trade Council. He talked on the beginning of business endeavours in South India for the nations in the region of South Africa. "The Contribution of the SMEs to Healthy Trade Systems and Sustainable Livelihoods in SADC countries will be the focus of the various delegations that I will be heading in the coming months". The goal of the meetings, which were held in Delhi during the SADC meeting at the Federation of Indian Exporters Organization (FIEO), was to build bridges between smaller businesses and the India Africa Trade Council.

Mr. Thakur claims that the choice of him as chairman to promote South Africa is evidence of the commitment and hard work of numerous enterprises, particularly those in the health and pharmaceutical industries in Southern Indian cities, as well as the involvement of SMEs. The upcoming visit by the delegation of the Chairman illuminates the vital importance of the healthcare and medical device industry and offers a path forward for sustainable growth and interregional collaboration among the countries of South Africa. It covers a wide range of topics related to small-scale initiatives, such as their relevance for the environment, economic impact, and difficulties they encounter. It also includes important policy proposals, such those regarding governance in small-scale industries. On June 27 in Bengaluru, the Chairman will present his initiative at the UN MSME Day.

Mr. Thakur emphasized that the visit is a major turning point for the SME sector in the South African region and that it coincides with the global celebration of MSME Day. He praised the SADC Secretariat's commitment to fortifying ties with Namibia and India. A delegation recently travelled to Malawi, another SADC nation, to meet with the president and several cabinet ministers. An MOU was struck in Malawi with the First Capital Bank.

The Honorable the India Namibia Trade Commission, according to High Commissioner Gabriel of Namibia, is a live, successful example of the relationship between Namibia and India. This relationship is anticipated to be a vital resource and a guiding tool for stakeholders, development partners, and policymakers as they create policies and programs that support the growth of these bilateral ties. In order to advance the regional agenda of the MSME sector, he continued, action plans should be created to put the recommendations from the visit into practice. Under his direction, nine Indian delegations have visited Namibia in the past three years and started fruitful partnerships.

The president of the Indian Economic Trade Organization, Dr. Asif Iqbal, emphasized that the middle-income groups' cross-sectoral cooperation with their Namibian counterparts depends heavily on their engagement, participation, and ecosystem approach to the MSME sector. He emphasized that we may ultimately assist the overall company development and sustainable trade systems of the MSME value chain by promoting inclusion and a collaborative approach in the sustainable support of SME guidelines and decision-making. He added that the Chairman's offices, a skilled infrastructure developer, will work with the new idea to design the construction of a cancer hospital. Additionally, this will help other SADC members close some of the gaps found in MSME partnerships with Indian businesses.
