HealthCare Global Enterprises (HCG), a specialty healthcare provider focused on cancer and fertility, is looking to expand into African countries. It plans to invest $12 million (around Rs80 crore) in partnership with the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of UK for this venture, a top company official said.
“We have identified three countries such as Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in Africa for our overseas expansion as Africa is an under-served region for cancer care,” Dr B S Ajaikumar, chairman and CEO, HCG told FE.
He said the company will be investing $7 million in equity, and CDC will put in another $5 million for the African venture. “We are planning to establish a network of specialty cancer centres in Africa through partnership arrangements and acquisitions. We have entered into a definitive agreement with CDC, which will invest in our subsidiary, HCG Africa,” he said.
