Cabinet approves MoU between India & Seychelles on renewable energy

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday gave its approval for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Seychelles on Renewable Energy.

“The objective of the MoU is to strengthen, promote and develop renewable energy cooperation between the two countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit,” said an official release.

The MoU will also help in strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of renewable energy.

The memorandum was considered during the visit of prime minister to Seychelles in March 2015.

Indo-Seychelles relations have been characterised by close friendship, understanding and cooperation. Though the economic and commercial cooperation at the moment is small, there exist significant scopes for cooperation in this field. There is interest on both sides to increase economic and commercial cooperation.
