By 2030, India Wants To Increase Its Natural Gas Consumption To 15%

India has set out on an aggressive direction to enhance its current 6% portion of natural gas in the energy combination to an imposing 15% by 2030, as the public authority pushes forward with a set-up of exhaustive measures, expressed pastor of state in the service of oil and petroleum gas, Rameswar Teli.

In a composed answer in the Lok Sabha, the minister said, "various steps have been taken by the public authority to raise the portion of natural gas in energy mix to 15% in 2030 from around 6% right now."
 
"These include expansion of National Gas Grid Pipeline, development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network, setting up of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminals, allocation of domestic gas to Compressed Natural Gas (Transport) / Piped Natural Gas (Domestic) CNG(T)/PNG(D) in no cut category, permitting marketing and estimating opportunity to gas created from high pressure/high temperature regions, deep water & ultra-deep water and from coal seams, Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation (SATAT) initiatives to promote Bio-CNG, etc," he added.
 
The nsaid on 10 July, Indian Oil signed Heads of Arrangement (HOA) with Total Energies Gas and Power for supply of up to 0.8 MMTPA for a time of 10 years beginning from 2026. This agreement is for deliveryof LNG from arrangement of Total Energies.
 
He added on 13 July, Indian Oil signed one more such agreement with Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company Ltd. (ADNOC LNG) for supply of up to 1.2 million metric ton for every annum for a time of 14 years beginning from 2026.
