Rajasthan Emerging As a Solar Hub

Rajasthan is emerging as a solar hub with huge investments coming its way. It has already become the 1st State in the country to develop 10GW of solar power capacity.
 
As per a report released by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Rajasthan tops the nation in solar energy with 10,506 MW of installed PV power capacity (9,542MW ground-mounted, 668MW rooftop, and 296MW off-grid). Karnataka ranks 2nd with a capacity of 7,534MW and Gujarat 3rd with 6,309MW.
 
The recently concluded Invest Rajasthan event saw agreements signed for investments worth over INR 8 lakh crore in the State’s energy sector alone.
 
Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL), the nodal agency for promoting and developing non-conventional energy sources in the State, recorded a profit before tax of INR 65 crore in the financial year ended March 31, 2022, shared the additional chief secretary and chairman of Department of Energy, RREC, Subodh Agarwal. He added that this figure is more than 2 times that of 2019-20 and INR 20 crore more than of the year 2020-21.
 
Agarwal said that in the recently concluded financial year, the State added more than 3GW of PV capacity, compared to 6,552MW developed in the last 3 years.
