Exports of Marine Products in India Jumps by 35 Percent to 6.1 Bn Dollar During April to December 2021

The exports of marine products registered a growth of 35% to 6.1 Billion dollars during April to December 2021 as compared to the same period in 2020. The Commerce and Industry Ministry said, in December last year, the exports of Marine Products touched over 720 Million dollars, registering a growth of over 28%. The overall exports of Marine Products in the last Financial Year was 5.96 Billion dollars.

The Ministry said, the top 5 export destinations are the USA, China, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam. It said, several export promotion schemes for Fisheries have been implemented by the Marine Products Export Development Authority. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana in May 2020 with an array of 100 diverse activities with a budget of over 20 thousand crore rupees.
 
India’s Exports of Ready To Eat products has also increased by 24% to 394 million dollars in the current financial year, compared to last financial year during April to October. Major destinations of Ready to Eat export are U.S.A, U.A.E, Canada and Sri Lanka. 
 
The Commerce and Industry Ministry said that the country's export of final consumer food products such as Ready to Eat, Ready to Cook and Ready to Serve has registered a significant growth in the last decade. According to the latest data of Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics, India exported final food products worth 5 thousand 438 million dollar in the last 3 financial years.
