Tata Power commissions 44 MW Lahori wind farm project

Tata Power has commissioned its 44 MW Lahori wind farm project, located in Shajapur district of Madhya Pradesh.

It has developed this project through its 100 per cent subsidiary, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), the company said in a press release.

With this addition, Tata Power's total installed capacity now stands at 9,183 MW, besides 2 million customers it serves through retail power distribution, it said.

The 44 MW Lahori wind farm project is expected to generate about 84 million units (MUs) per year.

TPREL also has a further 500 MW of wind capacity under development and construction in the states of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.

The company continues to pursue avenues to add clean and renewable energy generation capacities to increase its portfolio.

Tata Power MD and CEO Anil Sardana said: "The commissioning of 44 MW wind farm project fortifies...vision of generating significant percentage of its total generation capacity from clean energy sources. This is our fourth wind asset and we are in constant look out for similar opportunities in respect of wind and solar plants."

TPREL proposes to grow its capacity through organic and inorganic means over the next few years.

TPREL's strategy emphasizes the development of clean energy generation from non-fossil fuel and renewable energy sources to balance the carbon emissions from fossil fuel based generation capacity while contributing towards energy security of the country.
