Govt targets Rs. 32,000cr road projects in Haryana

Union Road, Transport and Highways Ministry has targeted to build road projects worth Rs. 32,000cr in Haryana and also reiterated commitment to raise the strength of national highways to 1.5 lakh km by next month, the concerned minister said adding that his ministry aiming to achieve the daily road building to 30 km by March end as huge road infra deficit is taking a toll of precious human lives on the country's roads daily. On this score, the PM Narendra Modi recently laid the foundation stone of three highway projects (341 km long) worth Rs. 13,802cr at the Rajiv Gandhi Education City at Rai. Currently, the country commands a strength of 48 lakh km, of which, 96,000 km are national highways. He further noted that single lanes will be upgraded to double lanes while two lanes will be turned into four lanes, six lanes, and eight lanes. Eastern Peripheral expressway would be the first axis controlled project in the country where vehicles would be able to run at a speed of 120 km per hour, he said.
