AHMEDABAD: Tractor maker Escorts Limited and Rajkot-based Amul Group on Monday rolled out 1001st speciality tractor Steeltrac. Escorts had in 2012 joined hands with Amul Industries for development and distribution of Steeltrac and entered into a strategic partnership few months ago.

"Steeltrac is a specialised tractor complimentary to general purpose tractors. It can facilitate operations like inter-weeding for farmers growing row-crops such as groundnut, cotton and sunflower. We have the capacity to produce over 10,000 tractors annually and this is a small but significant step towards realising our full potential," said Chandu Santoki, chairman, Amul Group.

"We have experienced exponential growth in the specialized tractor market," added Rajan Nanda, CMD Escorts Limited.
