Taiwanese tyre maker Maxxis to set up plant in Sanand, lease deed signed

AHMEDABAD: A delegation from the tyre manufacturer Maxxis Group, who had recently announced their expansion plans in India met Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel at her residence in Gandhinagar. The global chairman of Maxxis Tsai Jen Lo led the delegation.

The Gujarat government handed over the incentive registration to the chairman as a commitment of 'State Support' for the mega project coming up at Sanand.

Maxxis chairman signed the lease deed for the industrial land with the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation along with senior officials from both sides. The company has been allocated 35 acres of land.

The project is having an investment of over Rs 2500 crore and is expected to generate employment to more than 2000 people.

Maxxis Group also expressed its interest to focus on skill development programs in Gujarat. The signing of lease deed has been marked as a major milestone in the project and the company plans to complete the setup of the Sanand factory and start production by January 2017.

Himanshu Srivastava, director of Corporate Catalyst India, advisory firm having expertise in setting up business in India said that Gujarat continues to be the best destination for investors and due to the immense support of the government and the ideal atmosphere in the state for business more and more number of foreign conglomerates are looking forward to invest in India.

The tyre manufacturer will initially manufacture tyres for two-wheelers for Honda and Yamaha. Later the company will supply tyres to Maruti Suzuki. Honda and Suzuki are already in process of setting up their automobile manufacturing units in Gujarat. The officials of Maxxis Group had met Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel last year also in this regard.
