Ball opens new aerosol can production facility in India

US-based manufacturer Ball Corporation has opened new aluminium aerosol can plant at Ahmedabad, India, in order to raise its current production capacity.

The new facility development is a part of the firm's 'Drive for 10 vision strategy', which aims for expanding its reach across new geographic locations.

Ball also intends to maximise value across the firm's existing portfolio, explore new product developments and align its business with right set of customers and markets.

The recently launched facility will help the firm to meet the rising consumer demands for aerosol cans in India.

Ball Corporation global metal food and household products packaging chief operating officer Michael Feldser said: "With our strong foundation in aluminium aerosol manufacturing, this new plant allows us to enter the rapidly expanding India market and meet the needs of regional customers, as well as our existing global customers."

The firm delivers both three-piece tinplate aerosol cans and extruded aluminium cans for the packaging industry. The firm also produces aluminium slugs, which are used for manufacturing impact extruded aluminium cans.

In July, Ball had announced about shutting down its beverage packaging end-making operations at its Bristol facility in Virginia, US, next year.

The production from the plant will be transferred to other Ball manufacturing units in the US, the firm said.
