In order to expand its client services and take on new forms of work, DN Mitra Lab has become the first company in the eastern region of the nation to install an HP Indigo 15K digital press at its plant in Ranaghat, a city in West Bengal's Nadia district.Debendra Nath Mitra, an accomplished photographer of his day, left behind the DN Mitra studio, which was founded in 1930. Over time, DN Mitra changed into DN Mitra Lab, a film and colour lab.
"We partnered with HP to invest in HP Indigo presses to cater to quality printing needs in photo printing as well as the premium segment of high-end photo printing, which has concurrently raised the volumes," Stated Somnath Mitra, managing director of DN Mitra.
DN Mitra has switched from the two 19-inch-format HP Indigo presses to the new 29-inch HP Indigo 15K press, decommissioning the half-sized presses as part of its ongoing digital transformation. Currently, the company makes everyday close to 350 photo books with 40–50 sheets.
The HP Indigo 15K is a Series 4 press that can print B2 sheets at a rate of 4,600 sph in seven colours and is intended for high-end commercial applications. It is capable of handling a wider variety of media up to 600 micron, 1,600 dpi and FM stochastic screening in HD configuration.
The business also manufactures high-end mono cartons and boxes. The company's offset portfolio includes a Heidelberg Speedmaster SX74 printing press, a Heidelberg Suprasetter A75 CTP, a line of consumables by Heidelberg Saphira, thermal digital printing plates by Heidelberg Saphira APD 100, a Polar 115 PF paper cutter and folding equipment by Stahl and Bindwel.
DN Mitra Lab hopes to increase the scope of its product offering with the financing. Mitra stated, "The installation will further strengthen the business by venturing into big-size albums, gift boxes, wedding invites, sheetfed labels, personalised amateur photo books and short-run light packaging."

In addition to a collecting centre in Siliguri, DN Mitra also maintains a location in Kolkata.Ranaghat is home to the six-story print production plant, which occupies a 42,000 square foot space.The digital and offset operations currently take up two floors.The company wants to make the website future-ready so that it can accommodate all types of printing so that a customer may fulfil all of his printing requirements.
