The biggest plastic scrap converter and garbage gathering company in India, Shakti Plastic Industries, and LyondellBasell have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create a joint project to construct and run an entirely automated mechanical recycling plant there.The facility is designed to handle post-consumer rigid packaging waste and generate 50.000 tonnes of recycled polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) annually, which is equal to the amount of single-use plastic waste generated by 12.5 million people.The next facility, which is anticipated to open at the end of 2024, will grow to be India's biggest mechanical recycling plant.In order to fulfil the rising demand for recovered polymer materials from converters and brand owners in India, LyondellBasell will market the recycled goods created by this joint project, adding volume to its Circulen Recover portfolio of current PE and PP materials.
