Mumbai based Parksons Packaging officially installed the country's first HP Indigo 30000 digital press at its manufacturing unit in Daman. This is Parksons Packaging's first digital press as well as India's first 20X30 - inch digital press in the monocarton industry.
Parksons Packaging has its manufacturing plants set up all across India and is today recognised as an acknowledged master of offset printing techniques. Its six plants are equipped with more than 20 highly configured offset press lines. In the recent years, the company has witnessed a great demand from the Pharma and FMCG segments for short run cartons.
The HP Indigo 30000 installed at Parksons’ Daman plant is a uniquely and heavily configured press with two Tresu iCoat 30000 inline coaters specifically designed for folding carton production and total integration with the HP Indigo 30000 digital press. For a broad spectrum of applications, water-based and UV varnishes can be used.
At Parksons, the 7-color HP Indigo 30000 digital press is capable of printing 250-600 microns thickness on paperboard, metPET and synthetic products. In 22 nations around the world, 65 Indigo 30000 presses were mounted. Ramesh Kejriwal, Chairman of Parksons Packaging says that it was the best possible option available at the moment. “We were looking for certain kind of results and there was nothing other than HP Indigo which could do justice,” says Ramesh Kejriwal.
Consumption as a theme among stock market analysts and economists has been a hot topic. In industries such as FMCG, food, cosmetics, among others, the last five years have seen huge development in consumer spending. With a enormous amount of individuals under the age of 25, demographics are favourable. Disposable incomes are increasing rapidly, although still low compared to developed countries. Parksons Packaging is also highly optimistic about the development of the sector as it is directly geared towards the consumption space.
Parksons Packaging ensured that there was no offset background for its carriers on the HP Indigo 30000. This was to guarantee that the operators did not take any preconceived ideas to the new operation and worked with an open mindset tailored to the new platform's opportunities. Ramesh Kejriwal says, “We were clear from the start that no offset printers will work on the HP Indigo. We have taken personnel from our won prepress and added some new personnel but none with an offset background. We did not want any overlap of the two ways of thinking and working.”
Siddharth Kejriwal, the managing director of Parksons Packaging said, “We are very bullish about the Indian consumption story. In the next 10-15 years the growth witnessed by the sector will be much higher than the GDP growth. We have a young population with rising income. I see double digit growth in consumption for the next decade or even more. Our industry is a proxy to consumption growth and parallel to it – we believe that there is a growth opportunity for everyone here.”
