The most recent addition to the iGen platform, iGen 5, is said to offer a wider colour gamut to its users with the optional fifth colour unit.
According to the printer manufacturer, the fifth colour will increase the ability to match a larger gamut of Pantone 1 or unknown spot colours without reducing print speed, thereby meeting customer needs to reproduce colours correctly while maintaining high print productivity.
For a printer, this would mean orange, green or blue supplementing the CMYK set, hitting distinctive brand colours.
The press has three avatars – the iGen5 150 press (150ppm), iGen5 120 Press (120 ppm) and the iGen 5 90 Press (90 ppm). The make of the machine is such that upgrading from one speed to the next is simple.
Furthermore, the iGen5 is the first digital printer to feature EFI’s latest new Fiery FS200 Pro digital front end (DFE) platform. This means that iGen 5 users can print more jobs in the shortest possible time for maximum engine utilization and performance using the server’s new HyperRIP mode for parallel processing of up to four print jobs. The new FS200 Pro also boasts of the new Rush RIP mode, which opens up a fifth RIP to process rush jobs when all four main parallel processors are busy.
Commenting on the launch of iGen 5, Balaji Rajagopalan, executive director, technology, channels and international distributor operations, Xerox India, said, “The launch of the iGen platform back in 2002 had completely changed the outlook of the high-end digital printing market. The iGen presses are already creating billions of high-quality, high-margin personalised marketing collaterals all across the globe. The latest in the line, iGen 5, is fully customisable to meet page volume, application type and colour needs – all while delivering market-leading press uptime.”
He added, “The iGen family is a key differentiator for us. The machines from this family are feature rich, high on productivity, offer great colour outputs and are one of the most productive digital presses available in the market today. Xerox has always been at the helm of innovation and we continue to understand customer demands and make products tailored to meet those demands; the launch of iGen 5 press is a testament of our commitment to our customers.”
The 26-inch sheet size, according to Xerox, will enable more jobs and applications such as six-panel brochures, gatefold pamphlets, pocket folders etc.
