In a first-of-its-kind project in Haryana, the state government is preparing to establish commercial links with African countries. A first government-to-government (G2G) meeting will take place here involving envoys from 18 African countries and Haryana government officials.
The programme, launched by the international cooperation department, would highlight Haryana's agricultural, animal husbandry, overseas exports, tourism, and textile items, particularly agro products.
Haryana now exports over Rs 85,000 crore, with around Rs 5,000 crore of it going to African countries. Haryana exports clothing, food, and other products. Notably, Gujarat currently dominates economic connections with African nations, and the notion of exploring investments originated there.
“Our officials will discuss investment opportunities in Haryana, and four distinct groups of exporters from Gurugram, Faridabad, Panipat, and Karnal will showcase their products and discuss opportunities to develop their businesses in African nations. Furthermore, the African envoys will be joined by trade promotion professionals who will engage in direct discussions with businesspeople and government officials,” Yogender Chaudhary, principal secretary of the foreign cooperation department and adviser to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on foreign probes and resource mobilisation, made the statement.
"We will study all alternatives and establish a platform for the next level of direct connection with entrepreneurs for investments in education, health, agro industries for agriculture instruments, agriculture and allied businesses, textile and garment production, and so on," he continued.
