While PM Modi is in Abuja, a top official stated that an Indian-run 300-bed hospital is scheduled to open in Abuja, part of the $4 billion Indian investment in Nigeria's pharmaceutical and healthcare sector, which also includes an eye hospital in Abuja and Lagos.
According to Ravi, the Indian healthcare industry will be growing in Nigeria and the new 300-bed facility would contain Indian expat doctors and technology. "The healthcare industry is very active," he continued.
According to him, Nigeria can adopt some of the local solutions that India has introduced, particularly in the fields of energy and digitalisation. "There is a lot of room for both nations to advance," he continued.
In the areas of agriculture, food security, seed supplies, mechanisation, research and development, storage and distribution and lentils, there is room for cooperation between the two parties. He declared, "We will expand on these concepts at the expert level and give Indian businesspeople a chance to shine."
Ravi continued, "The two sides discussed climate-resistant seeds, mining, MSMEs, skill development and entrepreneurial development."
In a statement, Nigeria and India emphasised their commitment to a strong strategic partnership, promising to deepen their cooperation in important sectors such as food security, healthcare, military and economic development.
Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit to Nigeria at President Bola Tinubu's request, a joint statement was released in Abuja.
To protect vital shipping lanes, the two nations agreed to maintain frequent naval drills and cooperative anti-piracy efforts in the Gulf of Guinea.
The two leaders talked about more extensive cooperation in the areas of agriculture, health, education and cultural exchanges as well as food security.
Nigeria and India committed to strengthening their partnership in the healthcare sector, with a particular emphasis on the construction of hospitals and diagnostic facilities as well as the implementation of cutting-edge health management systems.
Both parties emphasised the enormous potential for additional cooperation to improve healthcare delivery throughout Nigeria and praised the continuous efforts made by Indian hospitals functioning there.
The Indian government also pledged to provide Nigeria with high-quality generic pharmaceutical products at competitive prices.
