India’s first-ever medical device park Andra Pradesh Med Tech Zone (AMTZ) was conferred with the prestigious ‘International Organization Award’ during the recently held 28th meeting of the American College of Clinical Engineering (ACCE) in California.
AP Med Tech Zone made history by being the first ever Indian association to be nominated for the coveted award and went one step further by claiming the award at the event in California. The reward was accepted on behalf of AMTZ by Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD and CEO of AMTZ.
The ACCE – HTF International Organization Award is given to organization outside the United States and Canada to those who have made remarkable strides in the field of Clinical Engineering. The Healthcare Technology Foundation sponsors the award for ACCE annually.
India’s medical devices market depends greatly on imports to the tune Rs. 25,000 crore which represents 80 percent of India’s total medical devices. AMTZ has done some remarkable work towards changing this trend by providing an environment for the manufacturing of the medical devices and the progression of the sector.
The AMTZ initiative has been well received and applauded by the global medical community. The AMTZ value proposition has also attracted praise in particular for their R&D operations, technology, infrastructure and demand both domestically and internationally.
