On a year-on-year basis, India's agricultural and processed food exports increased by more than 13% during the first eight months of the current fiscal year.
According to data provided by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, exports of agricultural and processed food products (APEDA) grew from $11.671 billion in April-November 2020-21 to $13.261 billion in April-November 2021-22.
The APEDA basket product export target for 2021-22 has been set at $23.713 billion.
"During April-November 2021-22, rice exports were the leading FX earner at $5,937 million, up 11% from the similar period in 2020-21, when they reached $5,341 million," the ministry said.
"Exports of meat, dairy, and poultry products increased 12% to $2,665 million in April-November 2021-22, compared to $2,371 million in the same eight-month period in 2020-21," it added.
Furthermore, fruit and vegetable exports increased by 12% to $1.720 billion between April and November 2021-22, compared to $1.536 billion between April and November 2020-21.
"Exports of cereal preparations and various processed commodities increased by 26% from April to November 2021-22 to $1,418 million, up from $1,127 million in April to November 2020-21."
"Cashew exports increased by 29% to $302 million in the first eight months of the current fiscal year compared to the same period last year," the ministry reported.
