Jeera prices rose by Rs 45 to Rs 13,095 per quintal in futures market today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by some exports enquiries.
However, increased supplies from the new season crop and expectations of higher output this year limited the gains.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in May rose by Rs 45, or 0.34 per cent to Rs 13,095 per quintal with an open interest of 11,229 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in June traded higher by Rs 40, or 0.30 per cent to Rs 13,280 per quintal in 7,911 lots.
Markets analysts said fresh positions created by speculators on the back of some export enquiries in the spot market mainly led to rise in jeera prices at futures trade.
