NEW DELHI: Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a national campaign for energy conservation, NDMC has launched the Palika Nav Jyoti campaign under which it plans to switch to LED lights in all its buildings. The civic agency plans to rope in wrestler Sushil Kumar, an NDMC employee, to create awareness.
Officials say the exercise will be completed in next four months. "First, we will replace bulbs and tubelights in office buildings, NDMC schools and hospitals,'' said Jalaj Shrivastava, chairman, NDMC, which has decided to distribute two LED bulbs to its employees on Holi. In the next phase, it will incorporate RWAs and market associations.
According to a conservative estimate, the agency will save 33 million units annually if all domestic units in the area start using LED bulbs.
