A wholly-owned subsidiary of Daikin Industries Ltd., a Japanese company, Daikin Air-conditioning India Pvt Ltd announced on Thursday that it has begun selling its integrated air conditioning and compressor manufacturing facilities in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

With a 75.5-acre footprint, the new plant can produce a total of 1.5 million room air conditioning units (ACs) and 3 million room AC compressors annually.

According to the Japanese player, this is its third operation in India and is a component of its Rs 2,800 crore investment in the country.

According to Daikin, the new building is ideally situated to meet the growing demand from both domestic and foreign markets for air conditioning products made in India.

It further stated that its primary focus will be on creating climate-friendly air conditioning systems for markets in East Africa, South America, the Middle East, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and West Africa.

According to the firm, the factory, for which the foundation stone was placed in April 2022, is in line with Daikin's goal of having net zero emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050.

Daikin also mentioned that it is the main contributor to the production linked incentive (PLI) programme for air conditioning, which is being run by the Indian government to promote air conditioner manufacturing in the country.

According to KJ Jawa, chairman and managing director of Daikin India, the facility would not only significantly increase the company's production capabilities and capacities but also solidify its standing as the area's leading supplier of sustainable and environmentally friendly HVAC solutions.

Masanori Togawa, president and CEO of Daikin Industries, stated that while the Japanese behemoth has 100 production facilities worldwide and serves clients in more than 170 nations, India is particularly important.

Togawa stated, "As we extend our manufacturing presence in India, the nation's vibrant labour market and workforce perfectly complement our goals. In addition to raising the bar for HVAC solutions, the new building will have a big impact on the expansion of the sector in India and the neighbouring areas."

Daikin India, with a turnover of Rs 8,860 crore, is a subsidiary of Daikin Global, which is valued at US$29 billion.
