Navi Mumbai intends to enhance the city by installing illumination based on smart technology on three flyovers. Various themes and circumstances will inform the lighting design. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan effort seeks to raise the city's ranking. Along Palm Beach Road, trees will also have ornamental lights placed on them.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has planned to light up and beautify the city with three flyovers on the Sion-Panvel highway using smart technology-based lighting, a first for the region.

The type of event or theme that the city intends to celebrate will determine how the Digital Multiplex (DMX) technology-based illumination operates. The three flyovers in Vashi, Nerul, and Belapur are scheduled to undergo a significant renovation.

The novel idea behind beautifying is to improve one's standing in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan rankings.

The Sion-Panvel highway is a busy thoroughfare with considerable traffic volume. The type of event or festival being celebrated will determine how the lighting system is implemented. For instance, these locations will be lit up like the Tricolour flag on Republic Day eve. If it's Christmas, the lighting will represent the joyous event, according to a senior engineering department official.

To carry out the project, a wireless controlling system will be used for the first time. Previous instances of this kind of work were carried out in Jaipur and Delhi. Every flyover will be equipped with a controller that is provided with around thirteen different programmes, ensuring that the lighting is appropriate for the theme or occasion. Another official stated, "We have currently requested tender bids for a four-year period of system maintenance."

One of the main initiatives to use lights to beautify the city is the lighting of the trees along Palm Beach Road. The agency plans to put seven lights on top of each tree that alternates between the Moraj Circle in Sanpada and the NMMC headquarters in Belapur. "This is yet another innovative idea that NMMC is attempting for the first time; each alternate tree on Palm Beach Road will have ornamental lights with a seven-color spectrum." The precise number of trees that will be lit up has not yet been determined. An estimated ₹70 lakh will be spent on the project, according to an official.
