Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana, stated on Tuesday that the two states are keen to collaborate on a variety of water management and conservation projects. He recommended that Haryana and Israel unite to tackle the problem of the dropping water table and the shortage of water. With the help of this project, the water-related challenges in Israel and Haryana can be properly managed. During a discussion about water management and conservation in this country with an Israeli delegation, the Chief Minister stated the following.
The Chief Minister stated that the State Government is constantly trying to raise the state's water table in recognition of the fact that the water level is dropping across several sections of the state. The state government of Haryana is aiming to renovate the state's 18,000 ponds through the Haryana Water Resources (Conservation, Regulation and Management) Authority, which was established for this objective. These ponds are being cleaned as well as desilted to enable for the greatest amount of water recharging. Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) are also being built across the state in additional to this. The utilisation of this STP water for gardening, farming, and construction projects is being encouraged. Drip irrigation is furthermore being promoted in agriculture.
He noted that the government is doing everything it can to save water in the state. According to the Chief Minister, Israel and Haryana both recognise the complexities associated with water conservation and should collaborate to find methods to handle water resources.Israel and Haryana already work together in the agricultural and horticultural fields. In Haryana, there are currently four Centers of Excellence for Indo-Israeli Collaboration, and a fifth one is being constructed in Bhiwani. Similarly, he continued, certain private Indian enterprises are investing in drip irrigation projects in Israel.
In order to work on water management resources with Israel's collaboration, CM Khattar I ordered the Irrigation and Water Resources Department to form a task group. He stated that in order to explore new technology, innovation, and challenges, Haryana and Israel should both step forward. The Israeli team was encouraged by the chief minister to bring projects that would ensure the best possible use of water resources and sustain soil fertility even in times of water constraint. Israel is a leader in water conservation, according to Yitzhak Aharonovich, a former minister of Israel and the chairman of Mekorot.Israel uses high-quality water management in the agriculture sector despite its water shortage. He provided Haryana with sustainable, affordable water management and resource management solutions.
