In a major booster to the transport infrastructure in the twin cities of Bhopal and Indore, the state government in Madhya Pradesh has recently cleared metro projects of Rs. 14,485.55cr, said official sources, elaborating that the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Company Limited would seek a loan to the tune of 60% while the State and the Central government would pitch in 20% each of the total cost and would provide Rs. 2,897.10-cr each. The remaining Rs. 8,691.35-cr would be arranged through loan from multilateral and bilateral funding agencies. The metro corridors of 27.87 km would be laid in Bhopal where the first corridor of 14.99 km would be laid from Karond to AIIMS (Saket Nagar). The second corridor of 12.88 km would start from Bhadbhada Square to Ratnagiri. Similarly, there would be one corridor of 31.55 km from Rajwada to Nainod in Indore. The construction work on metro projects in both the cities would be started from next financial year, they claimed.
