Pune Airpot connects to three new roads

In a bid to decongest the existing roads in the area, the Airports Authority of India has started working on building three new roads to the Lohegaon Airport in Pune, Maharashtra. Currently, the Pune Municipal Corporation is in the process of acquiring land for main approach road — the proposed 30 metre DP Road from Sanjay Park to Airport Parking No.1, said official sources, adding that the process of land acquisition is also on for another road, connecting Lunkad property to 509 Chowk. The road will act as diversion for the vehicles coming from Vimannagar and going towards Vishrantwadi, Dhanori, and Yerawada, and vice versa. In addition, the PMC will also lay another road connecting Parking No.2 to the proposed DP Road, which will act as the exit road. A portion of this road, 20 metres wide, will pass through IAF land for which necessary permissions have been put in place. PMC has already widened the road connecting 509 Chowk to the airport, from 8.5 to 12 metres and the construction of the road connecting 509 Chowk to the airport will be completed in the next six months, they claimed.
