Aurangabad launches Rs. 30k-cr road projects

In an attempt to build top-class road network across region, the Aurangabad division comprising the eight districts of Marathwada, has set aside a staggering sum of Rs. 30,000-cr for road-widening program. To start with, the projects will be taken up by its public works department (PWD) at an initial investment of Rs. 6,149cr, which would be allotted under the annuity program for carrying out repair and maintenance of the existing roads, state PWD minister, Chandrakant Patil said, adding that allocation of funds will ensure regional balance in the road sector. Marathwada has eight districts that have fairly large geographical areas, while north Maharashtra has just three districts. The government wants to develop road network across the state as part of its 15 year plan and has allotted funds for the same to every division.
