M'rashtra unveils Rs. 8,000cr road project

The state government together with Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has decided to launch a sea link project to connect Bandra and Versova instead of the proposed Coastal Road at an investment of Rs. 8,000cr. The previously proposed Coastal Road would have more adverse environmental impact as compared to the newly chalked out sea link and the residents from western suburbs too are against the Coastal Road project. Sources from MSRDC said that the process to update and revise cost is underway. In order to recover the finances incurred for its construction, there are plans to levy toll for using the planned sea link, however, final figure on the toll amount is yet to be finalized. With Versova-Bandra Sea Link in the nascent stages, it will be ready in the next few years, said official sources.
