12 Coal India projects get environment clearance

A total of 12 projects of Coal India Limited (CIL) got environmental clearance in 2015, the Lok Sabha was informed on Thursday.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy, Piyush Goyal said: “Till December 1, 2015, 12 projects have been accorded environmental clearance and four more projects have been accorded Stage II forestry clearance.”

Of the 12 cleared projects, five belong to Western Coalfields, two each to South Eastern, and Eastern Coalfields, and one each to Northern, Central and Mahanadi Coalfields.

The four projects that got the forest clearance include Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd, South Eastern Coalfields Ltd, Central Coalfields Ltd, and Western Coalfields Ltd, the minister said.
