"NLC India declared the commissioned and commercially operational Barsingsar Solar Project in Bikaner district, Rajasthan," the company stated in a regulatory statement. On August 26, 2025, Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited issued it a commissioning certificate.

 

During a Q1 FY26 earnings call, Chairman & Managing Director M. Prasanna Kumar shared the company's renewable energy roadmap, stating, "As of right now, we have 1.4 GW of renewable capacity and generated more than 2.2 billion units of power in the last financial year. By 2030, we want to have 10 GW of capacity, and we are taking all necessary steps to reach this goal.”

 

Providing an update on the commissioning timeline, he stated, "We have not added any new capacity in Q1. However, roughly 70 MW of our 300 MW Barsingsar project is now in place, and another 50 MW will soon be put into service. The entire 300 MW will be operational by the end of September. In a similar vein, the nation's first 50 MW solar project on mine-reclaimed land is nearing completion and is scheduled to go online by the end of September.”

 

In addition, Kumar discussed the progress made on other projects. NLC is aiming for 1 GW of solar capacity in Assam. According to him, 500 MW of land has already been acquired, and the tender documents are prepared for release. Due diligence and studies have been finished for an additional 150 MW, and the process of acquiring land for the remaining 300 MW is ongoing.

 

In relation to the joint venture project in Rajasthan, Kumar stated, "The JV was recently formed. In the next three months our goal is to complete the land identification process. It is anticipated that the projects would be concluded in 15 months.”
