Solar Allocations in Gujarat Are Set At $0.032/Kwh for 500 MW

Under its Phase XXIV tender, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has allotted 500 MW of solar capacity with a greenshoe option for an additional 500 MW, at an average cost of INR 2.7 ($0.032)/kWh.

KPI Green quoted the lowest price of INR 2.67/kWh, securing its 120 MW of bid-out capacity. Avaada paid INR 2.68/kWh for 200 MW, whereas BluPine Energy paid INR 2.69/kWh for 40 MW. At INR 2.72/kWh, Hinduja Renewable Energy secured 130 MW, while NRC Industries secured 10 MW.

The winning developers would be able to establish grid-connected projects anywhere in India to supply GUVNL with electricity under the terms of a 25-year power purchase agreement.

The PV modules used in these solar power plants, according to the tender document, must be warranted for peak output wattage, which must not fall below 90% after ten years and 80% after twenty-five years from the project's start-of-supply date.

Additionally, if a PV module reaches its "end of life," developers must make sure that it is disposed of in compliance with the e-waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2011.
