A new 412 MWp solar PV project is set to be built in the Indian state of Rajasthan, according to Acciona Energia. By2025, the plant should be put into service, according to the Spanish producer of green energy.
About 750,000 545 Wp PV modules total will make up the solar farm. In addition to helping to offset 724,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions yearly, it will provide about 800 GWh of green electricity annually, which is sufficient to power 840,000 households.
Reiterating the company's commitment to expansion and regional diversification, the new solar plant will be Acciona Energeia’s largest undertaking in India, where it now owns and runs four wind farms.
The project will be part of Acciona Energy's Social Impact Management program, which is intended to help community-based welfare, education, and environmental conservation initiatives.
With 42% of its total installed capacity coming from non-fossil fuel sources, India is the fourth-largest power market in the world. With 500 GW of planned renewable energy capacity by 2030, it is among the world's most promising nations for the expansion of renewable energy, according to Acciona Energia.
With nearly 18 GW of installed solar energy by the end of 2023, Rajasthan will have the largest cumulative large-scale solar installations in India, having grown by 30 times in the previous 9 years. This area's installed solar power amounts to about 25% of India's total utility-scale solar capacity.
Acciona Energia operates commercial activities in 20 countries and generates 12, 9 GW of renewable energy.
