Jakson Engineers is investing approximately INR 2,000 crore ($240 million) to build a 2.5 GW solar cell production plant and extend its current module manufacturing facility to 2 GW.
A 2.5 GW solar cell manufacturing facility would be established by investing about INR 2,000 crore ($240 million), and Jakson Engineers Ltd (JEL), a division of the energy and infrastructure giant Jakson Group, will concurrently increase the capacity of its current solar module production to 2 GW. According to the corporation, the ability to produce solar cells would be increased in two stages.
The expansion of the module plant is anticipated to be finished in six months, while the first phase of the solar cell facility is scheduled for commissioning within the next fifteen months. When this expansion plan is finished, 1,200 new jobs should be created in the area.
"We're not only guaranteeing a more robust supply chain but also positioning ourselves to deliver even greater value to our customers," stated Sundeep Gupta, vice chairman and managing director of Jakson Group. JEL's long-term goal is to become a 5 GW integrated solar wafer, cell, and module manufacturer.
