Exide Energy Solutions, an arm of Indian lead-acid battery major Exide Industries Ltd, has looked for additional 40-acre of land in Karnataka for the second-phase 6 GWh lithium-particle cell manufacturing capacity. The company plans a single-site, 12 GWh lithium-ion cell production capacity in Karnataka, out of which the underlying 6 GWh cell office is now under development in the Devanahalli Industrial Area and will probably begin creation by December 2024.
Exide will lay out an expected INR 6,000 crore to construct the total 12 GWh capacity.
Following endorsement from the state government, Exide plans to begin developing the second facility in the year 2024.
Gayatri Dadheech, chief technology officer at Exide Enterprises Ltd, told prior their first-gradually work 6 GWh lithium-particle cell manufacturing capacity in India will create lithium ferro phosphate (LFP) and nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) cells. The accompanying 6 GWh, focused on by 2027, could be founded on cutting edge lithium-particle, strong state, or other battery innovation.
Exide Energy Solutions has gone into a long term specialized cooperation concurrence with SVOLT Energy Innovation, a China-based organization having some expertise in creating and producing lithium-Ion batteries and capacity answers for different applications.
Exide Energy Solutions has been conceded privileges to utilize and popularize SVOLT's technology and ability for lithium-ion cell manufacturing as a feature of the understanding. Additionally, SVOLT is helping Exide in setting up a start to finish creation process, including upstream store network, manufacture plant and hardware, quality cycles, etc, on a turnkey basis.
Exide Energy Solutions will manufacture cylindrical, pouch, and prismatic lithium-ion cells for mobility and stationary applications.
