“Green hydrogen has arrived with the amount of money that is coming into start-ups. It will succeed if the point of manufacture and the point of consumption is at close proximity,” said Puri at a KPMG hosted event here. He added that for setting up a green hydrogen industry demand, supply, and capacity to manufacture at scale are key. He added that domestic refineries will play a huge role when it comes to production at a large scale.

 

“We should set up a green hydrogen corridor with the United States I see the potential for Indian companies in collaborating with them,” Puri added. Speaking on solar cookers as another important aspect for energy transition, Puri said that India is ready to take solar cookers at scale.

 

“We have trials taking place in 50 areas. We have grown from domestic firewood to kerosene then gas and piped gas and now if we can go to solar energy. The cost of the contraption is also being brought down to a reasonable limit,” he added.

 

On biofuels, he said that the target of blending 20% of ethanol in petrol can be met by 2026 instead of 2030. The KPMG’s 2 day ENRich 2022 event is on the theme ‘Dealing with energy and resources trilemma’.
