Gamesa to construct 40-MW wind park in India for ReNew Power

Spanish wind power group Gamesa (BME:GAM) has received a turnkey contract to build a 40-MW wind park in India for local independent power producers (IPP) ReNew Power.

The deal calls for Gamesa to deliver and install 20 pieces of its G97-2.0 MW class S turbines at the site of the Lingsagur wind project in the state of Karnataka. The machine model is custom-designed for low wind speed sites. The height of its tower amounts to 104 metres (341.2 ft).

The company will handle all of the infrastructure necessary to install and operate the plant. Upon completion of the facility in March 2016, it will also provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services in the long term.

Gamesa and ReNew Power have already signed turbine supply deals for 102.65 MW in the Indian states of Karnataka and Maharashtra. The Spanish company has to date installed nearly 2,100 MW of wind turbines in India and developed over 1,300 MW of projects there. Already this year it has some 500 MW of orders locked in the country.
