Indian wind turbine manufacturer Inox Wind Ltd (BOM:539083) said Wednesday it has secured an order for a 50-MW turn-key wind project in the northwestern Indian state of Gujarat.
The contract comes from Gujarat Mineral Development Corp Ltd (BOM:532181), or GMDC, a minerals and lignite mining company of the Gujarat government. It will see Inox supply and install 25 units of its 2-MW DFIG 100 rotor dia wind turbine generators. The wind company said it would be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the project, including wind resource assessment, land acquisition, infrastructure development, as well as the long-term operation and maintenance of the power plant.
The 50-MW facility will be located at Rojmal and will be part of the 400-MW Inox Wind Park, which Inox said was one of many such wind parks it was developing across the country.
The project will add to the 150 MW of installed wind capacity that GMDC now has in Gujarat. This is the first order of the mining company with Inox.
"We are happy to partner with GMDC in its goal to becoming the highest wind power generating Public Sector Unit in the state of Gujarat," said Inox chief executive Kailash Tarachandani.
