KOLKATA: Japanese auto-maker Nissan Motor will launch yet another small car by March next year, a top company official said today.
The car, originally to be launched in 2017, will be the third on the platform of Dastun-- Nissan's low-cost car brand.
"The new car will come out by March," Nissan Motors India Managing Director Arun Malhotra said here today without giving details.
In January this year, Nissan launched compact multi purpose vehicle Datsun Go+ with price starting at Rs 3.79 lakh (ex--showroom Delhi).
Last year, Nissan launched Datsun Go in India, marking the global comeback of the brand after nearly three decades.
The company is also opening new small dealerships in tier II and III cities.
Nissan plans to have 60 showrooms focusing on Datsun only by 2016 as part of its overall plans to open 300 showrooms in the country.
At present, Nissan has 21 showrooms exclusively for Datsun vehicles. Malhotra said the company is planning to increase its market share from two to five per cent over the next 3-4 years.
Nissan has also started setting up spare parts distribution centres outside Chennai and the first one will come up in north India soon.
