Tata Motors Limited announced that its global wholesales, together with Jaguar Land Rover global wholesales stood at 83,906 units in Nov 2014. Global wholesales of all Tata Motors' commercial vehicles and Tata Daewoo were 30,233 units in the reported month. Global wholesales of all passenger vehicles were 53,673 units in Nov 2014, of which Tata Motors’ global wholesales of passenger vehicles in the month were 12,355 units.
Jaguar Land Rover’s global wholesales for the month were 41,318 units. Jaguar wholesales were 6,184 vehicles, while Land Rover wholesales were 35,134 vehicles.
Recently, Tata Motors reported a 2% increase in total global sales of commercial and passenger vehicles including export, to 41,720 vehicles in Nov 2014 from 40,863 vehicles in Nov 2013. The automaker’s domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles remained flat year over year at 37,427 units in Nov 2014.
However, Tata Motors is facing a challenging economy due to the current macroeconomic trends. Nevertheless, growth has been recorded in many segments. The medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) segment recorded 39% growth and the Sedans segment also recorded better performance due to the all-new Zest. In Nov 2014, exports increased by 17% year over year to 4,293 vehicles from 3,671 vehicles sold in Nov 2013.
In the passenger vehicles business, Tata Motors’ sales for Nov 2014 went up 16% due to better sales of the Zest and Nano. In the commercial vehicles business, Tata Motors’ sales for Nov 2014 in the domestic market declined 5% to 25,406 vehicles from 26,816 vehicles sold in the corresponding month last year. Sales in the Light commercial vehicle (LCV) business declined 20% to 15,954 vehicles, while M&HCV sales improved 39% to 9,452 vehicles.
