Nairobi, Kenya— TVS Motor Company (TVSM), part of TVS VENU and a global manufacturer of two- and three-wheelers, has entered Africa’s electric mobility market with the launch of its premium TVS iQube electric scooter in Kenya. The launch represents the company’s first market entry in Africa and reflects its broader focus on expanding sustainable mobility solutions internationally. The iQube is designed to offer a combination of performance, comfort, safety and quality for today’s urban riders.

Peyman Kargar, President of International Business at TVS Motor Company, said the Kenya launch represents the company’s first step into Africa’s electric vehicle market. He added that the move is part of TVS Motor’s broader strategy to introduce innovative electric mobility solutions across international markets and represents an important milestone in its global expansion.

The TVS iQube is designed to balance strong performance with rider comfort. The electric scooter produces up to 4.6 kW of peak power, comparable to a 125cc petrol scooter, and can reach 40 km/h from a standstill in 4.2 seconds. Its lithium-ion battery technology is designed to provide reliable and durable performance over extended use.

Vijay Gidoomal, CEO of Car & General, highlighted the strong growth potential of Africa’s electric two-wheeler market. He noted that while the broader two-wheeler sector is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of 7–10% through 2030, the electric segment could expand at a significantly faster rate of 15–25% through 2030–31. He also pointed to the currently low EV adoption levels, suggesting considerable room for future growth across the market.

The TVS iQube has surpassed one million customers globally, with users collectively covering more than 17.81 billion kilometres. According to TVS Motor, this widespread adoption has helped prevent an estimated 623,595 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, highlighting the potential of electric mobility to deliver significant environmental benefits at scale.
