In an effort to double the export of completely knocked down (CKD) vehicles by 2030, Kia India stated that it is targeting markets in the Middle East and Africa. Since starting exports in June 2020 from its production facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, the automaker has exported one lakh CKD automobiles to date.
With half of its CKD exports going to other countries, Kia India is one of the major export hubs for the South Korean-based Kia Corporation.
Kia India Chief Sales Officer Joonsu Cho said in a statement that the company is appreciative of the government's export-friendly policies, which have been essential in bolstering the nation's standing in the global automotive value chain.
"Looking ahead, we aim to expand our CKD footprint to the Middle East and Africa, to double our export volume by 2030," he said.
According to the carmaker, it hopes to sell more than 38,000 CKD units this year to markets in Vietnam, Ecuador, and Uzbekistan.
