Sunbeam Auto Ltd, the official and authorised distributor of the Bajaj intra-city series in Tanzania, has opened a new showroom and workshop in Dar es Salaam, the firm said over the weekend.
The firm has also released the Bajaj Qute, a new Bajaj brand produced by India's Bajaj Auto.
Mr Sandeep Arya, the Indian High Commissioner, presided over the showroom and workshop launch in the city recently, which was also accompanied by Mr Krishna Grihapathy, a senior vice president for Bajaj Auto in Africa, and Mr Vinod Rustagi, the Karimjee Jivanjee group managing director.
Mr Yusuph Karimje, executive director of Sunbeam Auto Ltd, stated during the ceremony that the inauguration of the new Sunbeam showroom represented the first key milestone in the country's Bajaj intracity distributorship and the company's connection with India's Bajaj Auto.
Sunbeam Auto is the newest subsidiary of the Karimjee Jivanjee Group. This year marks the 191st anniversary of the company's founding in Zanzibar in 1825.
"We are truly pleased by the arrival of the Bajaj intracity in Tanzania, particularly the 3E variant, which is the world's leading three-wheeler vehicle and is on exhibit here today at our store," he added.
