Last year Maruti Suzuki had introduced the second-gen Ertiga in India. Now, Toyota has launched the same in Kenya under its new collaboration with Suzuki.
The Ertiga has been kept throughout the Toyota dealerships in the African country. As per Toyota Kenya, there is a increasing trend of vehicles for transporting passenger-cum-cargo for which Ertiga fits the bill accurately. The company decided to launch the Ertiga to benefit from the increasing demand of MPVs and station wagons the market. In the last few years, the demand in the segment was at an all-time at high level, and out of all the newly registered vehicles, most were station wagons.
"The growing demand of space pushes customers to look for extensive station wagons and new Ertiga delivers this" says, Toyota Kenya, Managing Director, Arvinder Reel.
In terms of dimensions, the Maruti Ertiga is 4,395 mm long, 1,735 mm wide and 1,690 mm high. it comes with 209 litres of boot space, which can be extended up to 803 litres on want.
There are two engine options for The Indian-spec model which comes with K15B 1.5-litre petrol (104.70 PS/138 Nm) and D13A 1.3-litre diesel (89.74 PS/200 Nm). The Smart Hybrid dual-battery mild-hybrid system is standard. The transmission work is handled by a 5-speed manual unit or a 4-speed automatic unit (petrol-only).

In Kenya, the Ertiga employs the same K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine as basic and is offered with a 3-year or 100,000km warranty plan. It features projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, 4.2-inch colour MID, automatic climate control and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link. Also, it has range of capabilities of second-row seat with one-touch fold and slide mechanism. In India, there is also a Maruti Ertiga Cross in the making which will be sold particularly through the Nexa dealerships.
