Tata AutoComp goes into a 50:50 joint venture with South Korea's SECO Seojin to diversify in clutch market

In an offer to diversify its automotive impression, Tata Group's Automotive parts subsidiary, Tata AutoComp Systems Limited has gone into a 50:50 JV with SECO Seojin of South Korea to design, develop and manufacture clutch systems in India. The product range will include of the Clutch Cover, Clutch Disc and Friction material required for Clutch Application.

 
The priority for the joint venture will be to come into India commercial vehicle market as well as the agriculture Tractor industry, extend passenger vehicle business and setup independent aftermarket for the product. SECO right now manufactures clutch systems for passenger vehicles in its plant in Chennai. It supplies it to Hyundai. This plant will become a part of the Joint Venture.
 
The MD & CEO of Tata AutoComp, Arvind Goel  said: “The demand for clutch systems will continue over the coming years. Our endeavor is to upgrade our offering to give our clients with the latest technology. SECO is a leader in designing and manufacturing of Clutch systems.  
 
We believe that there is a large opportunity for high quality Clutch Systems in the Commercial Vehicle space as well as in the aftermarket. We are certain that this JV will enable us enhance our product range and also broaden our offering in the Aftermarket space.”
