Tata Motors launched its latest SUV in the Sri Lankan market; it is the first of its kind motor to be introduced by the Indian auto maker in the region.  Nexon is one of the latest cars to be brought to the markets, including the likes of Tata Tiago, Tata Tigor and Tata Hexa. The SUV is available in both petrol and diesel engine options with six variants on offer. The distribution for Tata motors in Sri Lanka will be looked after by Diesel & Motors Engineering PLC (DIMO). DIMO has been selling Tata cars like Tata Nano, Tata Zest and Tata Bolt cars in the country.

 More than 50,000 units of Nexon have been rolled out from Ranjangaon plant by the motor giant, while experiencing a satisfied take off in the Indian markets; the company is now expanding its reach  in more countries.  Tata will offer six variants of the vehicle to the Sri Lankan market,  right from Nexon XE, XM, XT, XZ, XZ+ and the recently launched Nexon with HyprDrive, Self-Shift Gears (AMT gearbox) in the top-end XZA+ variant. Priced at Rs 1.99 million for petrol variants and Rs 4.6 million for diesel-powered SUV (Permit Holder Prices), the motor will be available in 6 colour options

During a crash test conducted by Global NCAP, Nexon SUV scored a 4-star rating, including its structure being rated as very stable for use. Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors says that with the introduction of Nexon in Sri Lanka, Tata Motors aim to tap a larger market and increase its market share in both compact SUV and AMT segments respectively.

 With its launch in Nepal earlier this year and now in Sri Lanka, the company plans to launch the SUV in Bangladesh too.  Having its new products in the market, the company is quiet confident of its export options and profits, especially with rupee gaining it momentum against the dollar
