German auto component supplier Bosch Group on Thursday opened 14th manufacturing facility in India. The new plant at Bidadi, near Bengaluru, will manufacture products for the diesel systems division. It has started manufacturing of single cylinder common rail pumps along with conventional fuel injection pumps at this facility.
Bosch Group’s flagship company in India Bosch Limited has set up the plant at an investment of Rs 340 crore, which is spread over 100 acre. The first phase of the plant became operational on Thursday and once completed, it will have 2,600 employees working at the site, said Bosch managing director Steffen Berns.
The company will shift the existing facility at Adugodi in Bengaluru to the new plant in Bidadi. By 2016-17, the production of newer version of common rail fuel injection pump is expected.
Peter Tyroller, member, board of management, Robert Bosch GmbH said the company has set a target of doubling its sales in Asia by 2020. “India and China are key pillars of our growth strategy in the region to achieve our 2020 goal,” he said. He said Bosch has invested Rs 5,400 crore in India between 2010 and 2014.
