Maruti Suzuki Eyes 10% increase in sales network in FY19

Maruti Suzuki, India’s biggest car manufacturer is looking forward to grow its sales network by 10 percent this financial year which will include dealerships of its light commercial vehicle (LCV) Super carry.

"We are continuously increasing our sales network. This fiscal we plan to increase the number of outlets by at least 10 per cent," says Maruti Suzuki India’s senior executive director, Marketing and sales, R S Kalsi.

350 new sales outlets were opened in 2017-18. The company would uplift the network for Super Carry and part from that would add outlets under different retail channels like Nexa and Arena. Kalsi said. MSI has also started exporting LCVs and has shipped over 900 units.

Currently, MSI has 2,625 dealers in India, which will likely be doubled this financial year, looking at the sales of the current financial year.

In total MSI sold 16,53,500 units in 2017-18 which is whopping 14.5 percent more than 2016-17, out of which over 10,000 were Super carry, sold from about 162 outlets.

"Macro economic factors seem to be positive, GDP growth forecast is on the higher side and there are expectations of a good monsoon, so all these factors will be contributing positively towards the market sentiment and we are confident that we will be able to do double digit growth this fiscal as well," he added.
