New National Oral Health Policy & More Dental Awareness on DCI's Agenda

The Dental Council of India (DCI) is working towards a National Oral Health Policy. The council recently organized a workshop in Mumbai where experts from the Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry (IAPHD) and Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD) collaborated to present and discuss the preventive measure for childhood carries, among other important issues.

The event was inaugurated by for Medical Education & Water Resources, Maharashtra, Mr. Girish Mahajan. He was joined by Bollywood personality, Farah Khan. In his speech at the event, Mr. Mahajan expressed concern over the lack of awareness with regard to dental issues in India today. He also advocated for the use of basic hygiene methods in India such as brushing with toothpastes in rural areas of the nation. Mr. Mahajan also highlighted the need for a new mass campaign to propagate and penetrate information about oral health and oral cancer into the national consciousness.

Farah Khan, who has a very impressive record as both a director and as a choreographer expressed an interest in making short films and videos on the subject of oral health for children at no cost to do her part and spread awareness about such issues across the nation.
